	. Leathery thallus with short cylindrical stipe gradually flattening in subdichotomic ribbon-like branches, 2 to 4mm wide; moderately rounded extremities; up to 10cm. Bright red to dark red. The thalli are gametophytes carrying parasite tetrasporophytes, evident as pustules on one side of the branch. Perennial species, found on rocks and stones in sandy and shallow biotopes, both in sheltered and exposed environments. Tallo di consistenza simile al cuoio, con corti stipi cilindrici che si appiattiscono in ramificazioni subdicotomiche nastriformi, larghe da 2 a 4mm; estremità moderatamente arrotondate; altezza fino a 10cm. Colore tra rosso scuro e rosso brillante. II talli macroscopici sono gametofiti che portano tetraspore parassite, bene identificabili come pustole su un solo lato delle ramificazioni. Specie perennante, si trova tsu rocce e sassi in ambienti sabbiosi e superficiali, sia in stazioni riparate che esposte ai moti ondosi. .
